Finishing Well

May 27

With only a few weeks left until the end of school many of the students are preparing themselves to be finished. It's easy to direct your focus away from the completion of school responsibilities. I can still remember sitting in my high school classes and looking longingly out the windows wishing it would all come to an end.

It's with these thoughts in the students minds that our chapel and small group discussion times were devoted to "Finishing Well." In chapel we talked about Galatians 5:7 “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?” I mentioned that life brings us all kinds of distractions that try to sidetrack us from fulfilling what we are called to. But with God's help we can finish well.

In our small groups we discussed the pitfalls of 'slacking off' as we get close to the end of something. We looked at the fact that nothing happens by accident, and how we can set ourselves up for success this summer by making good plans right now.

As you interact with your child in the next few weeks, remind them that God wants to help them finish well. I'm sure many of you are getting just as tired of all the due-dates and final reports as your student is. It's sometimes good for all of us to be reminded to keep going. Don't give up now. Throw off the things that hinder. And allow God to bring success to our every activity. With His help, we can all Finish Well!
